Save Time Writing Branded Materials With A Content Blocks Document

Recently we helped a small business owner re-write his marketing and business plans. The owner was grateful for the new copy, but expressed a concern that he may have issues writing copy for marketing materials later in the year.

He said,"It is so hard to start from scratch writing a marketing document when you have a blank piece of paper staring you in the face." We understood completely and wanted to leave him with a tool that could help him create "branded copy" quickly.

We came up with a "content blocks" tool to help him locate chunks of content to "plug and play" into all types of sales / marketing documents.

Checking back with the owner, he has used the Contents Blocks document in several ways including sharing it with his webmaster to get the correct "branding" to the homepage.

Here are the topics we included in the Content Blocks document. Take time to write about 3-5 sentences in each and save this document. Revise as needed, so that your marketing materials are current and consistent in "voice" and terminology. Here are the topics we included:

? Board of Directors (and a quick description)

? Company Summary

? Competitive Comparison

? Competitive Edge

? Competitive Landscape (includes five competitors)

? Contact Information

? Company Owner Biography (including professional memberships, patents, degrees)

? Executive Summary (break up into 1-2 sentences, easy to cut / paste in other docs)

? Market Segmentation

? Mission Statement

? Company Objectives (stating where business income comes from in percentages)

? Positioning Statement

? Promotional Strategy

? Sales Literature (don't forget to include company website)

? Target Clients

? Technology overview

? Testimonials (quotes from clients)

In addition to words that describe your company include visuals that "brand" as well including:

? Logos

? Pictures of company owner, business site, website, clients, processes, products

? and links to audio files with testimonials, music or the company owner telling about the business
